What Is a Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue massage is defined as deep pressure or deep muscle work. It concentrates on working out the “knots” and tight muscles through slow deep strokes that reach deep into the muscle. This type of massage is not for everyone, but your massage therapist can tell you if it’s right for you.
When deep tissue massage is performed, your therapist will use direct and deliberate deep pressure and slow strokes to reach deep into the muscle tissue. The therapeutic benefits of deep tissue massage include reduced pain, improved range of motion (ROM), increased circulation, temporary relief of muscle spasms, and decreased muscle fatigue or exhaustion.
