How Do I Plan a Relaxing Spa Day?

Home - General Spa - How Do I Plan a Relaxing Spa Day?

Tip #1:  Plan Ahead

It’s important to be prepared before you dive in to head to toe pampering. Make a plan for how long your spa day is going to last, how much money you are willing to spend and how far you are willing to travel. Decide ahead of time whether or not it will be just you or if other people are coming along.

Pick out an outfit that fits the mood — classy, sporty, glamorous, cozy.  Pack everything into a nice bag beforehand so that once you arrive things can flow seamlessly from the car parked in the lot, check-in desk passed over, robe on and slippers on feet whisking through the lobby towards your destination.

Tip #2: Proper Nutrition

Make sure to eat lightly before your spa day–something light, healthy and easy to digest. Make sure not to drink too much fluid since you don’t want how full or thirsty you are to interfere with how relaxed you feel!

Before your actual appointment, make sure that you go to the bathroom one last time. A full bladder is the last thing you need on your spa day. Lightly snacking throughout the day can actually help reduce how hungry or nauseous you might feel during your treatments so long as it’s healthy snacks like fruits and veggies.

Tip #3: Arriving & Starting Your Journey

When arriving early for treatment — give yourself at least an hour beforehand — check in first then head right into changing into your robe and  slippers. If the spa you are going to offers snacks or tea, accept your munchies gratefully and then head into your chosen treatment space.

Tip #4: Take Your Time

Your spa day is for YOU so don’t rush too much! Allow yourself extra time for how long it will take you to get there by car, how long you want to enjoy the sauna or steam room before your treatment, how long you’ll need to fill out paperwork… Savor every step of the way–don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to do everything all at once.

Tip #5: Relax & Unwind

After “treatment time”, give yourself a few minutes break in between treatments if possible — perhaps use this time as your “downtime” time before the next activity.

Tip #6: What to Expect

When you’re looking for what to expect at your local spa, you might see some services offered that are not exactly how they sound… So here’s a little education about what certain treatments really are.

  •  “Aromatherapy” is not a treatment at all but how you can choose how scented your bath products are.
  • A mud wrap isn’t what it sounds like and involves full body application of specially formulated mud and herbal mixes. This makes for a great detoxifying treatment!
  • If you see the word “facial” think about how long the treatment will take and if it’s really how you want to pamper yourself — because some facials only last ten minutes to never more than 45 minutes. If you’re looking for skin rejuvenation treatments, perhaps consider Botox or laser hair removal instead?

Tip #7: Yasss, It’s All About You!

Think about how you want to feel because this is YOUR time.  Sometimes we’re not aware how we sabotage our own efforts at relaxation because what we choose ends up making us more stressed out.

For example: if all the activities and appointments and waiting in line is just too much for you — then perhaps a few hours would be better than a full day! If food cravings are getting the best of you and how hungry or nauseous might interfere with how relaxed you  feel, then choose how much and what you eat beforehand to please how your body is feeling.

Skin care treatments can be invigorating (giving you a natural sense of heightened awareness) or relaxing (soothing how tense the body feels). Your choice! You really need to think about how it will make how you feel so that how you feel afterward actually makes sense !

Choose what kind of spa day makes you feel your best — since this is “me time” for pampering yourself… that’s why it’s called SPA DAY!

Tip #9:  Post Spa Day Recovery

After your spa day bliss, consider the aftercare your esthetician recommended.  Then, look into it to see if it’s a good fit for your self care goals.

For example, find out how to get yourself how you want a body wrap treatment for cellulite reduction.

Simple research can help you choose the right products just by knowing what you’re looking for, why its different from other things on the market & how it will work best for YOUR needs.

There are plenty of resources available at bookstores near you or right here online–which require very little time to do before your next trip to your local spa!
